After co-founding his first design studio in 1990 and a long stay in Asia, the graduate designer has
run his own design studio in Berlin since 1997. Here he develops quality products ranging from lifestyle accessories, lamps and writing implements for the high-end market, many of which have been awarded design prizes and are part of important collections, through to showrooms and shop concepts for renowned German and international companies.

Carsten Gollnick: “I always try to look behind the secrets of the material and its processing to design
which is processed in dignity and appears authentic over a long period of time.

My long time preoccupation with pure new wool and its aesthetics has undoubtedly contributed
to a better understanding of the DESIGN EDITION theme.

In my opinion it is important to find a balance when designing carpets: a balance between the materialaesthetic properties of wool in a three-dimensional, spacious way and the creation of graphically independent concepts and histories. The carpet gives me the possibility to explore the tension between extensive graphics, the colour concept and the three-dimensional textile effect.

On one hand, my designs have a strong, visual personality, but on the other they adapt themselves
to the overall concept of a well-designed interior, adding to its beautiful effect.”
